

Carroll (Cal) J. Callahan,84, died February 11, 2012. Born in New York City on September 10, 1927 to his loving parents Cornelius and Mary (Carroll) Callahan. He served in the Army Signal Corp 1946-52. He attended Hofstra College. Cal retired as a Program Analyst Manager in 1977 after working 28 years for the New York Telephone Company. He moved to Florida and worked for Nations Bank and Peoples Gas, finally retiring in 1989. Cal loved the Tampa Bay Bucs and The Rays. He also loved playing tennis and watching cowboy movies. Cal is survived by his loving wife Betty of 63 years, daughters; Brenda (David), Mary (John), and son Joseph (Connie), sister June Arciello. He was predeceased by a daughter Sharon Mary. He has 10 Grandchildren and 4 Great Grandchildren. He was a man dedicated to his family and God. Cal was greatly loved by all and will be sorely missed. A lifelong Catholic and member of the Knights of Columbus and of St. Luke’s Catholic Church. Everyone he met appreciated Cal’s great sense of humor. He had a wonderful talent for words. He enjoyed a spirited political debate, but always maintained his sense of fairness and respect. The family will receive friends Tuesday 3-5 and 7-9 at the funeral home. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Wednesday 11:30 a.m. at St. Lukes Catholic Church, Palm Harbor. The family requests that in lieu of flowers donations be made to The American Heart Association.
