
68 of Palm Harbor, FL and formerly of Albany, NY passed away on Tuesday, May 8, 2012 at her dream home. Karen was born on April 9, 1944 in Carbondale, PA to Corinne J. O’Brien and the late Thomas E O’Brien. She was educated in Pittsburgh, PA and lived in Albany, NY for over 30 years. Karen came from a family with a Delaware & Hudson Rail Road heritage and she followed that tradition. Karen was a beautiful person inside and out and a very generous person to her family, friends, strangers in need and to the poor people of the world. Besides her mother Karen is survived by her husband John Benedetto, a son Robert O’Brien, step sons Joseph (Kimm) & Paul (Michelle) Benedetto, a step daughter Ann (Rob) Stevens, seven grandchildren Zachary, Lindsey, Anthony and Alexander Benedetto, Elizabeth & Samantha Stevens and Ashley Giuliano, a sister Cheryl (George) O’Brien. A nephew Bryan (Suzy) O’Malley and niece Jennifer (Greg) Muschlitz, great nieces Shannon, Erin & Ella and a great nephew Alex. She will no longer light up a room when she walks in but her memory will live forever for all who knew her. At Karen’s request there will be no services. The family would like to thank the staff of Mease Countryside, Manor Care, Suncoast Hospice and our niece Anita Rasmussen for the love and care that Karen received.
