Smith, Olaf Carlson Born September 20, 1931 in St. Louis, Missouri to John W.E. and Olivia (Carlson) Smith. Olaf passed away on June 16, 2017 at the age of 85 after battling cancer and declining health. The love of his life, Mary Jo passed away in November, 2013. They were married 59 years. Family was one of the major highlights they held close together as they traveled back forth every year between California and Missouri. Olaf was a machinist in the aircraft indusrty for over 35 years with Rocketdyne, Lockheed and retiring from General Electric. He is survived by children Carla (Hal) Mitchell, Leona (Richard) Taylor, Phillip (DeAnne) Smith, twelve grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, brothers George (aka Mark) (Wilma) Smith and James (Pat) Smith. His son, Olaf (aka Oly) Smith, Jr. preceded him in passing in March, 2016. A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 24, 2017 at Desert Lawn Memorial Park 2200 East Avenue S Palmdale, Ca 93550
