

On the 13th of November, 2015, James Edward Anderson Sr. rose to be with his heavenly Father. On January 31st, 1919, James was born to John Anderson and Wealthy Rowell Anderson at home in Terra Ceia, Florida. James was the oldest of eight siblings who are all pre-deceased except for two sisters. James went to both Palmetto High School, Palmetto, Florida, and when they consolidated, he went to Manatee High School. Next he joined the National Guard and moved to the Air Force, flew B-17's and was an instructional pilot in Arizona during WWII. While in the service he met Martha Mauldin in Atlanta, Georgia, and later, they were married in Arizona in April of 1943. They had one son, James E Anderson Jr. (Jim). Martha passed away September 23, 2013. After leaving the service, James came back to Palmetto, Florida and was hired as City Clerk of Palmetto in 1950. He remained City Clerk for thirty four years until his retirement in 1984. James loved to go hunting and fishing and he participated in several hunting camps both near Homosassa Springs and in the Everglades. Survivors include his son, James Jr. (Judy) and his two sisters, Alice Sutton and Sandra Roberts plus grandsons, Eddie Anderson (Jennifer) and Marty Anderson, also many nephews and nieces. Celebration of his life will be Saturday, November 28th, 2015 at the First Baptist Church of Gillette, located on Moccasin Wallow Road, Palmetto, with the Visitation starting at 10:00AM, followed by the Service officiated by Pastor Tim Durden at 11:00AM with the reception to follow at the Church. In lieu of flowers, please make contributions to the First Baptist Church of Gillette's building fund in James E. Anderson Sr's name.
