Anthony A. Aquilante Sr.

Anthony (Tony) A. Aquilante Sr., age 71, passed away Tuesday, February 17, 2015. Tony was the son of the late Congens and Viola (nee D’Orazio) Aquilante. He is survived by his wife, Betty Anne; 16 children; Michele (Craig) Ritchie, Anthony Jr., Colleen (Robert) Boselli, Gina (Alex) Corridoni, Tina (Silvio) Correa, Joseph, Michael (Staci), Denise, Daniel, Christopher (Tricia), Dianne (John) Manza, Lisa (Joe) Marchozzi, Tricia (Mark) D’Antonio, Kristen (Brian) Boyer, Angele (Jason) Hunt, and Bethany; and 29 grandchildren. He was the brother of Theresa, Ann, and Congens Jr.

Tony graduated from Conestoga High School in 1961 and earned a degree in accounting from Villanova University. He worked in the family-run business, Aquilante’s Modern Meat Market, as a butcher, until he started his catering business, Gourmet Buffets by Anthony Aquilante, in 1972.

He was a man of many talents and enjoyed a variety of hobbies, including collecting antiques and gardening. He was an artist, an accomplished drummer, a connoisseur of wines, and he enjoyed preparing and displaying food. He took great pride in his flower garden, and would change the plants along with the seasons, creating amazing landscapes. He also was an avid sports fan.

Tony was also a great family man. He cherished his family beyond all else, and frequently attended various events in which his children and grandchildren participated. If he was not attending an event, he could be found driving his grandchildren around the property on his golf cart.

Tony was an active member of St. Isaac Jogues Catholic Church in Wayne, and a member of the Knights of Columbus.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the viewing on Monday, February 23, from 5-8 p.m. at St. Isaac Jogues Roman Catholic Church. A viewing will also be held on Tuesday, February 24, from 9-10 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. Interment will be at St. Ann’s Cemetery, Phoenixville.
