Your mother and I were part of the Tuesday morning mothers at Regis and I loved her very much. She taught me so many things about navigating life with three sons who, like you, also went to Regis. I remember her lipstick sofa! I consider myself privileged to have known her! 

To Claire’s family- my sincerest wish that joyful memories will soon begin to replace  the terrible feeling of loss at this time.   I met Claire in the 1980’s when I was her across the hall neighbor at the Fairfax in NYC. What a lucky apartment number for me- this move led me to the beautiful, warm, fun, caring Claire who quickly became a beloved friend. I was on my own and she took me under her wing. Unflappable, and with unending energy, she made everything look easy. She didn’t waste time, ever. She fit more stylish shoes and clothes into a NYC closet than anyone else ever! She was a great cook, a natural and fabulous Mom, capable of anything in my view. It made perfect sense that she went on to make her mark in a highly competitive real estate environment. She was a star. Her eyes sparkled when she drew you into conversation  and were the most beautiful and unique shade of blue. Her easy warm smile was always at the ready.  If she needed to set you straight she could but with warmth and kindness and she didn’t linger on the negative- ever. She was at ease in her own skin, knew who she was and what she believed. She was true blue to herself and to others and that equaled a quiet confidence  and steadiness that was very reassuring to be around.  For the beautiful grandchildren I will likely never meet and have only seen in pictures, be reminded that when you make someone feel special, when you do a right and good thing and move through this life in a positive way you are honoring her, making her proud and just maybe you have been lucky enough to inherit some of the special gifts she possessed. I have so many fond memories of Mrs. Vitali (call me Claire!) spanning 40 years.  It was always a pleasure to enjoy a cocktail or dinner or the 3 hour drive from NYC to Saratoga or St. Patrick's Day at the McGillicuddy's with Claire!  She was fun and upbeat and always warm and glad to see us! We loved the stories about her youth, skating and even our high school days (that is our 1980s group) and her visits and vacations with her sons and grandchildren. My mother will be happy to have one of those heavenly cocktails with her! May she rest in peace.
