

Karyn LaVerne Botfield, 81, passed away peacefully on 4/5/25. She was the widow of Fred B. Botfield, Jr, with whom she shared 54 years of marriage. She was the daughter of Vernal L. Wagner and Mary Lou Wagner.
Karyn was born in Dayton, OH and moved with her family in 1954 to Berwyn, PA, where she lived for 47 years. She was a graduate of Villa Maria Academy in Malvern and attended classes at West Chester University. She was on the field hockey team and Great Valley’s swim team. Karyn had worked as a dispatcher for the fire company, a secretary for Villanova University and worked many years at Valley Forge Military Academy. Two of her favorite jobs were to work as an auxiliary police officer for Tredyffrin township and for Easttown Township. She enjoyed working at the Devon Horse Show and Valley Forge Music Fair, where she met many celebrities and music artists.
Karyn loved animals, especially horses. She would rescue wild animals, from rabbits to birds and she would rehab them back to health and release them back to the wild.
Karyn is survived by her two children. Her son, Robert, husband of Trish and father of Maddison Lawson, and her daughter, Thia, wife of Dan Bullock IV and mother of Lucas and Ashley. In addition, she is survived by two sisters, Bev Dodds of Lansdale and Chris Unterhoefler of New Hamphire and one brother, Kevin Wagner of Virginia and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband and love of her life, Fred Botfield, Jr and her oldest son, Fred Botfield, III, 19 (Freddie). She is remembered as an incredibly loving wife, mom, grandmom (Gigi/Mimi), sister and friend.
Her wishes for a private service were honored and she was buried with her husband and son at St. Monica’s cemetery.
