Margaret Mary (Mansfield) Von Bargen was born on September 20, 1924, in Manhattan, NY to William and Margaret Mansfield. She was the youngest of three girls (predeceased by Viola and Rita). She passed away surrounded by family on March 5, 2024, at 99 years of age.
Marge was a world traveler, a self-proclaimed debutant and was of Asian descent in another life. She was an artist, and her watercolor paintings decorate walls across the country. Her job was her family, (and the occasional hat model) and she did it with grace and dignity and a gentle tone. Marge had a passion for shopping, the theater and sitting by the pool. As our familial “Emily Post,” she was immaculate in both home and person. She was both the orchestrator and the life of the party and was known for a long “Von Bargen goodbye” where she made sure to connect with everyone in the room “just one more time.” And that is exactly how she lived her life. Touching the lives of others in a way that is immeasurable.
Margaret was married to Frank Edmund Von Bargen for 51 years who has been patiently waiting for her in heaven since April 4, 2004. They shared four children, Drew Von Bargen (Luana, deceased), Debby Weiner, Derrick Von Bargen (deceased) (Diane) and Jill Ayoub (Michael); ten grandchildren, Brian Von Bargen (Sophie), Kim Blando (Vince), Jena Henderson, Ashley Wilkes, Jonathan Ayoub, Jamal Ayoub, Eassa Ayoub, Jason Weiner (Rachel), Drew Von Bargen II (Lauren), Lauren Clarhaut (Tyler); and 9 (soon to be 10) great grandchildren.
We would like to welcome our extended family and friends to a celebration of life at Glenhardie Country Club (Marge’s second home) on April 13, 2024, at 3:30pm for music, food, laughter and of course, a signature drink. Please dress colorfully and remember to put your napkin in your lap (she would have told you to).
In lieu of flowers, please carry on Marge’s love for the arts with a donation in her name to The Main Line Art Center at https://public.mainlineart.org/public/donateguest
