Stephanie Lynne Tanner, 47, of Berwyn, Pennsylvania, passed away surrounded by her family and friends on November 1, 2025, at Paoli Hospital after a courageous six-year battle with cancer. Her strength, grace, and unwavering devotion to her family were evident throughout her journey, as she remained committed to keeping life joyful and normal for her children.
Born in Lewisburg, Pennsylvania, Stephanie was the daughter of Monica Fisher (née Cowher) and the late Randy Yerg. She was lovingly adopted by Michael Fisher, and together her parents reside in Lewisburg. Stephanie graduated from Lewisburg High School in 1996 and went on to earn her degree in Health and Exercise Science from Gettysburg College in 2000, where she was a standout field hockey player and a proud member of the Gettysburg Sports Hall of Athletic Honor.
Stephanie found her calling in education, first teaching at Perkiomen Valley High School and later becoming a cherished preschool teacher at Trinity Preschool in Berwyn. Her passion for nurturing young minds was only outmatched by her love for her own children. She was a devoted wife to Jack Tanner and a loving mother to Claire Elizabeth Tanner (17) and Charles Jack Tanner (14). Stephanie was also a tireless behind-the-scenes supporter of Claire’s theatrical performances, always present with quiet encouragement and care. She was also an all-star cheering mom, rooting for Charlie and his teams at every game.
She is survived by her husband of 17 years, Jack; her children, Claire and Charles; her parents, Michael and Monica Fisher; her siblings, Ross Fisher (Melissa) of Malvern, and Kathryn Powell (Chris) of New Columbia; and her grandfather, Charles Cowher of Lewisburg. She is also survived by nieces and nephews Eleanor, Henry, Madelyn, and Liam. Stephanie was preceded in death by her birth father, Randy Yerg; her grandparents, Connie Cowher, Harry and Gloria Yerg, Don, Helen and Donna Fisher.
Stephanie loved running, staying active, going to the beach, all things Christmas, including decorating the house way too early, and spending time with her family. Her warmth, humor, and selflessness touched everyone who knew her.
A visitation will be held on November 13th from 6:00 to 8:00PM at Alleva Funeral Home (1724 East Lancaster Avenue, Paoli, PA 19301). A funeral service will take place at Trinity Presbyterian Church (640 Berwyn Ave, Berwyn, PA 19312) on November 14th at 10:00AM.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity close to Stephanie’s heart - United for Her (https://uniteforher.org). Her legacy of love, resilience, and kindness will live on in all who were blessed to know her.
