Aaron Raszler was born on February 20, 1943 in Beulah, North Dakota, the son of Leo and Ida Tabert Raszler. He moved to Omaha after graduating from high school in Malvern, Iowa to begin his technical and professional education. He worked the night shift in the Omaha Police Department’s Identification and Records Section while attending college in the day time.
Aaron thoroughly enjoyed his 36 year career with the Omaha Police Department and he retired in 2000 as the Manager in charge of the Crime Laboratory and Evidence Property Section. After retiring he was employed as a part time Court Entry Security Officer for Sarpy County Sheriff’s Department from 2001 until April 2015.
As a young man he served in the Nebraska Army National Guard as a Staff Sergeant. He also held numerous adult leadership positions with the Boy Scouts of America. During his career, he was an active member in various local and national forensic organizations including, The American Society of Crime Laboratory Directors and the International Association of Identification. Additionally he served on the Sarpy 97 SID board for 15 years.
He enjoyed Nebraska football, hunting, reading and boating but most of all he enjoyed being with Shirley and his family. He was a loving devoted husband and father who had a special place in his heart for his grandchildren.
He is survived by Shirley, his beloved wife of 49 years, his three sons Randall (Lisa), Rodney (Nancy), Russell (Stefanie), 7 grandchildren, Jordan, Alison, Cameran, Megan, Sydney, Aaron Jacob (AJ), Elise and numerous other family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Harlen and Grandson Ty.
He was baptized as an infant and confirmed at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Zap, North Dakota. Aaron and Shirley have been members of Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church since 1971.
Funeral services: Tuesday June 2 at 10:00 am Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church, LaVista. Visitation: Monday at Mortuary from 1-8 pm with family receiving friends from 5 – 8 pm. Interment Westlawn Hillcrest Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials suggested to Beautiful Savior Church, Hospice House, Boy Scouts of America –Mid- America Council
