On May 21, 2025, Anne Marie Lichti Carey lost her fight to VHL after a life long battle and peacefully passed through Heaven’s golden gates to walk with the angels and be reunited with her Heavenly Father.
Anne was born on July 26, 1974, in Omaha, Nebraska, to Judith Paulsen. Just six weeks later, she was lovingly adopted by Larry and Marilyn Lichti of Kearney, Nebraska, where she was raised alongside her siblings Kathi and Rob. Anne brought light and laughter to every room she entered and was known for her vibrant, spirited nature—especially during her time at Kearney High School, where she was fondly remembered as the lively one.
On August 5, 1995, she married Tracy Carey, and together they built a life at Johnson Lake, raising their three children—Kylie, Cody, and Cole. Anne later moved with her kids to Omaha, NE where she has resided for the last 15+ years. Anne was a devoted mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, and friend. She embraced life with an open heart, a bold spirit, and an infectious energy. Whether she was working, spending time with her children and cherished grandson August, sharing laughter with friends, or enjoying a trip to the casino with her dear friends Lisa and Matt, Anne lived with joy, resilience, and a boundless sense of adventure.
Anne had a gift for making others feel seen and loved. Her kind heart, strong work ethic, and fiery personality left an impression on everyone who knew her.
She is survived by her beloved children, Kylie Carey, Cody Carey, and Cole Carey; her grandson, August Carey; and daughter-in-law, Marissa Carey. She is also deeply missed by her parents, Larry and Marilyn Lichti; her siblings, Kathryn Bradley, Shelby McCleary, Robert Lichti, and Cody Paulsen; along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family members who will forever cherish her memory.
Anne is now reunited in Heaven with her grandparents, Royce and Erma East, Albert and Marian Lichti; her biological mother, Judith Paulsen: her Uncle Alan Lichti; and her former husband, Tracy Carey.
Her light will forever shine in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
