Dean L Wyllie

Dean was born October 31, 1936 on the family farm in Bridgewater, Iowa. He attended a one room school house for grade school. While in high school he played baseball, basketball, and ran track. He graduated from Bridgewater High School in 1955.

He worked for several farmers before enlisting in the Army in 1957 and served in Korea where he was part of the engineering company before being honorably discharged in 1959.

Upon his return from the military, he married his high school sweetheart, Peggy Mundt. They lived in Council Bluffs, Iowa for a brief time and then settled in Papillion, Nebraska. There they raised six children, Richard, Lisa, Thomas, Linda, Laura, and Marc.

Dean was a machinist by profession, but he was a "Jack of all trades". He was employed by Standard Metal and Control Data Corp. In addition, he had many side jobs, including custodian at St. Paul's United Methodist Church.

In semi-retirement he was a grounds keeper at Tara Hills Golf Course in Papillion. We believe that was the most enjoyable job because he got to be outside driving a tractor. He was known at the course for mowing it like it was a PGA course even though he never golfed !

He was a 50- year member of St. Paul's UMC where he served in many capacities. He was a trustee and also St. Paul's UMC Methodist man of the year.

He enjoyed spending time with the family whether it was at home or on vacation. He especially enjoyed watching his children and grandchildren in their activities including: baseball, softball, basketball, football, volleyball, dance and band. In retirement Peggy and Dean enjoyed playing games, doing puzzles, visiting friends and sharing meals.

Preceded in death by Daughter: Linda Wyllie, Parents Charles & Helen Wyllie and Sister Sandra Wyllie.

Survived by Wife Peggy of 61 years. Children: Richard (Denise) Wyllie, Lisa (Steve) Burt, Thomas Wyllie, Laura (Bob) Clancy and Marc Wyllie. Grandchildren: Zachary Burt, Keevan Clancy, Kaylin (Michael) Horsman Best, Michael Wyllie, Kylie (Dallas) Clancy, Ryan Burt (Yvonne Moten), Leah & Faye Matuszek. Great Grandchildren: Ava & Oaklin Burt. Brothers: Carl (Vivienne) Wyllie & Robert (Penny) Wyllie. nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.
