My deepest sympathy to Inga, Benji and the entire Hookstra family.  Donetta was a great support to my sister, Lou, while undergoing treatment for cancer and our family so appreciated the love and care expressed. I know that she will be missed by all.

My sympathy to Donetta's family.  I had the pleasure of working with Donetta at Methodist in critical care when I was a brand new nurse.  She was kind and patient and proved to be a wonderful example of nursing care and knowledge.  I have so much respect for the example she set in her nursing career.   Heaven is a richer place with Donetta there.  Melanie Thompson (still at Methodist in the Emergency Dept).

I worked with Donetta at Methodist Hospital for many years.  She was a great nurse and mentor to me.  She was always there to teach me and when my mother died, she also had words of comfort for me.  She was a beautiful person and she gave me things that I will never be able to repay her.  I will pay it forward in her memory.  Thank you Donetta.  I know you are in heaven and will continue to watch over your family and friends.  You will be missed.  To Inge, Benje and the rest of the family, I hope in time, the memories you have of her will comfort you.

Donetta was a kind and gentle soul and she touched our lives in so many ways.  She was an angel to help me with our twins born in 1984. We moved to Houston but our friendship continued for next 21 years. I will miss Donetta!  To her family--my deepest sympathy.

I worked with Donetta such a long time ago but she will always be such a positive memory about my time at Methodist Recovery room. She mothered all of us young ones and was always present in my care when I had surgeries. She was a wonderful woman and I feel blessed to have known her. My thoughts and prayers are with her and her family.

I am so sorry to hear about Donetta.  I graduated from nursing school with Donetta.  I still work at Methodist Hospital but now I am at the new women's hospital.  I haven't seen Donetta for quite a long while.  I am so sorry for your loss.  She was a wonderful person.

What an amazing individual....my mom"s best freind.....she helped us take care of her.... till the end. Now their together at the right hand  of the lord..... they keep all the animals ......from getting board. We laughed and cried with her and then went on with life....we wern't available to help with her plight. It was a great pleaure knowing Donetta.  She was a caring nurse and a wonderful mentor.  Her compassionate nature extended beyond nursing to her years of volunteering at Henry Doorly Zoo.  She enjoyed sharing those zoo stories with us at work, especially about the baby orangutans.  She will be very much missed.  My thoughts and prayers are with her and her family.
