Gary D. Turner, of Papillion, passed away on June 3rd, 2023, surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Randolph, Iowa on July 1st, 1936, to the late Eloise and Ned Turner. He was the oldest of three brothers, Dennis (Jane) who survives and Robert (Mako) who precedes in death. He was raised on their family farm by Eloise and Ned. He graduated from Malvern High School, afterwards he served in the Air Force. During his time in the Air Force, he was stationed on the Panama Canal Zone. This is when he met the love of his life, Jean Molyneaux. They married on August 30th, 1957. To say their love story was ordinary would be quite an understatement. Gary asked Jean to marry him on their first date, thinking he was joking she said OK. They were married for 65 wonderful years. Throughout these years, they had two children. A daughter, Julie (Chris) Smith, of Chillicothe, Ohio and a son, John (Mary) Turner of Papillion, Nebraska. He was the proud Grandpa to Seth and Michaela Turner and the proud Papa to Ryan and Rebecca Smith.
After Gary served in the Air Force, he made his career in banking. While working and raising two children, they moved multiple times around the country. When Gary and Jean moved back to Omaha this past fall, they had moved almost 30 states during their marriage. From Wyoming to Florida. Following his retirement, he spent his time with his family and grandchildren. Making trips for sports, academic and club events, along with graduations. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. In 2011, they moved to Fairhope, Alabama, where they found a great community and their paradise. Gary volunteered at Thomas Hospital in the Wellness Center and Fairhope Christian Church as a servant. In his free time, Gary found a hobby of restoring antique tractors with his best friend Steve. They made many friends while living in Fairhope and Jean and Gary cherished their time there greatly. He was loved by everyone he came across and will be missed tremendously.
