It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of JoAnne (Jo) Mildred Braegelman, age 91, a beloved wife, mother and grandmother, who passed away peacefully on February 1, 2026, in Papillion, Nebraska.
JoAnne was born on January 20, 1935 by Clear Lake, Minnesota and raised on a farm south of Eden Valley. She lived a full life, enjoying her passions of homemaking, baking, caring for family members and, of course, shopping. She always enjoyed shopping with Karla, her daughter-in-law.
JoAnne attended District 12 Country School through the eighth grade, and subsequently graduated from Eden Valley High School in 1953. She attended Saint Cloud Business College and after graduation, she worked for Texaco until 1958.
JoAnne was married to Robert (Bob) A. Braegelman on November 3, 1956 at Saint Peter's Catholic Church in Eden Valley. JoAnne and Bob initially moved to Minneapolis, where they lived and worked until 1959, then moved back to Eden Valley, residing on the Braegelman family farm. When her husband Bob, started the Eden Valley Fertilizer Company (Cominco American), JoAnne became the plant secretary, taking care of the administrative and billing procedures for not only the Eden Valley plant, but assisting several other local fertilizer plants as well. Bob and JoAnne managed the fertilizer business until 1994, when Bob retired.
In 1997, JoAnne and Bob, sold their Eden Valley residence and moved to Papillion, Nebraska, where they could live closer to their son (Wayne), their daughter-in-law (Karla), who both had just retired from the U.S. Air Force, and their only grandson (Adam). JoAnne was so happy to be able to be around Adam throughout his younger years and watch him grow and graduate from both high school and college.

She is preceded in death by her husband Bob, her parents LaVerne and Leila (Shorty) Hurd, her brother John (Jack) Hurd, her sister Margaret (Peggy) Bethel, her brother-in-law Harold Bethel, along with her nephew, Schott Ruprecht.
