

Joseph Gidney Hall, a devoted, faithful, and inspirational man, passed away on December 30, 2025, at the age of 61. Born on July 14, 1964, in Salt Lake City, Utah, Joe spent his early years there before moving to Phoenix, Arizona, and later returning to Orem, Utah. He graduated from Mountain View High School in 1982. Joe loved playing drums with friends, playing football, and participating in Boy Scouting.
Joe Hall was a dedicated professional, working various jobs before pursuing a career in technology. He joined the Air Force in 1986 and served in the Utah Air National Guard, later becoming a DoD employee and cybersecurity expert. Joe spent over ten years at USSTRATCOM, contributing significantly to the command's cyber and network security. His efforts as a Subject Matter Expert for the Defense Readiness Reporting System and his representation of USSTRATCOM Joint Cyber Center were notable.
Joe was married to Samantha Hearne from 1984 to 1990, and they had two sons, Joseph and Daniel. He later married Lucretia Smith in 1991, with whom he had two daughters, Kimberly and Ashley. Joe is survived by his mother, Alberta G. Hall, and his siblings Brent, Tamara, Mellanie, and Jennifer. He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Brent Hall. Joe leaves behind a large and loving family, including his mother-in-law Ann Smith and numerous in-laws, nieces, and nephews.
A man of many talents, Joe was an excellent barber, cook, and birthday cake sculptor. He was a sports fan, especially of BYU, the Chiefs, and Viking Football. Joe enjoyed bargain shopping, working on cars, and spending time outdoors. He traveled extensively, living in various places across the USA, as well as in Panama, England, and Germany.
Joe was a devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving in numerous callings, including Bishop and young men's president. He found joy in serving in the nursery with Lucretia and cherished his time in the YSA ward. Joe was known for his humor and love of dressing up, creating memorable Halloween costumes and playing roles like Papa Santa or Elf for his family.
The family expresses deep gratitude to friends, church members, and medical staff who supported Joe and Lucretia, especially during Joe's surgeries in Rochester. Special thanks go to the Andersons, the Oesterle families, and the medical staff at Mayo Clinic-Rochester and Omaha VA.
Visitation will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 12009 S 84th St, Papillion, Nebraska, on January 12, 2026, from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm, followed by the funeral service at 12:00 pm. The committal service will take place at Omaha National Cemetery, 14250 Schram Rd, Omaha, Nebraska, at 1:30 pm.
