Leola Campbell was born in Castana, Iowa on October 18, 1921. When she was young her family moved to Wayne, NE where she graduated from Wayne High School on May 18, 1939. She then moved to Omaha, NE where she attended and graduated from Boyles Business College. She worked for Joyce Lumber Company’s home office for a couple of years when she met her husband of 65 plus years, Maurice Campbell in October 1941. Leola changed jobs and went to work for Union Pacific for a few years. Leola and Maurice were married December 15, 1943, until Maurice’s death on April 20, 2009. They had four children, Charlotte (Roger) Curry, Steve (Donna), Kathy, and Ed (Penny), seven grandchildren, and 14 great grandchildren. Leola lived independently until she was 97 1/2 when she relocated to Silver Ridge Assisted Living facility in Gretna, NE where she passed peacefully on October 13, 2021. A grave site service will take place on Leola’s 100th birthday at Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery, 2300 S. 78th Street, Omaha, NE at 11:00am.
