Marie E. Porter

Marie passed away November 9, 2015. She attended Rural Stender School through 6th grade; 7th & 8th grade at Lutheran Parochial; High School at Papillion High School graduating in May of 1940. Later she was a Legal Secretary for over 30 years.

She was a lifetime member of First Lutheran Church; Her parents (Martin and Gertrude Gruenwaldt) were confirmed together in the church on April 9, 1911. She was baptized, confirmed and married in the church to James Porter on November 23, 1947. He preceded her in death on March 1, 2004.

She was an active member in the church and other organizations in Papillon; volunteered at Midlands Community Hospital after retiring for 18 years.

Preceded in death by Parents: Martin & Gertrude Haug. Husband: Jim Porter. Brother: Harold Haug.

Survived by Children & Spouses: Lynette Tracy, Orlando, FL., Sue & Larry Bartlett, Lincoln, NE., Rod & Mary Beth Porter, Lincoln, NE. 7 Grandchildren, 11 Great Grandchildren. Nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral Services Thursday 10:30 am First Lutheran Church, Papillion. Visitation Wednesday 1-8 pm with family receiving friends from 5 -7 pm. Interment: Papillion Cemetery.
