Mark Jonathan Orr was born July 11, 1957 in Nevada, Iowa. As a young child, he moved to Columbus, Nebraska with his parents, Jay and Carolyn Orr, his twin brother Matthew along with his other brothers Jim, Phil, and Roy. Mark graduated from Columbus High School as well as Platte Valley Community College. He attended the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and during his first year was diagnosed with Stage 4 Hodgkin's lymphoma. At his initial hospital visit, Mark met a nurse, then Jean Owen, whom he later married. Mark and Jean lived in the Bellevue/Papillion area for the 36 years of their marriage and to their marriage were born two loving daughters: Margaret Joy and Pamela Jean. Mark sold cars for 22 years for Rhoden Auto Center, later becoming H&H Buick/GMC. He considered his coworkers and customers family. In 2012, he was diagnosed with metastatic lung cancer. He underwent five years of treatment, continuing until the time of his death. Mark lived life passionately. In his younger years, he enjoyed vacationing in the Lake of the Ozarks, golfing and playing bridge. He loved Nebraska football, PGA golf, fantasy football and the Patriots, working in his yard and grilling. He was the chicken griller extraordinaire. Most of all, Mark loved his family.
Mark is preceded in death by his mother and father Carolyn and Jay Orr, his brother Phil Orr, and his niece Nina Orr. He is survived by his wife and best friend Jean, daughters Dr. Margaret Punt (and her husband Colin) and Pamela Orr, and his grandson Charley Punt, Brothers: James & Patricia, Lincoln, NE., Roy & Patrice, Eugene OR., twin Brother Matt, Key West FL. Brothers in Law & Sisters in Law, Nieces, Nephews, along with numerous other family and friends.
Mark was a friend to everyone that he knew. He will be missed dearly but we are rejoicing that he is no longer in pain.
Memorial Services will be held Thursday April 19th at 6:00 pm. at Calvary Christian Church, 10100 Cedar Island Road, Bellevue. NE.
