

Royce was a resident of Papillion, Nebraska, and will be remembered for his hard-working, humorous, and kind-hearted nature.
Royce attended Ralston Middle School, where he competed in Mathcounts and won the regional Eastern NE competition. This achievement led him to participate in the NE State Mathcounts chapter in Washington, D.C. He also took part in the Academic Decathlon during high school.
While pursuing a meteorology degree at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, Royce worked at HobbyTown USA in Lincoln, where he met his wife, Kira. In 2009, he moved to Papillion and worked at Home Depot while earning a master’s degree in Urban Studies from the University of Nebraska-Omaha. During this time, he interned at NIFA and continued working there until 2020, when he joined Kros Strain Brewery, eventually becoming a brewer.
Preceded in death by his step-father, Vic Carver.
Royce is survived by his wife, Kira Sheibal; his mother, Rhonda Sheibal-Carver; his father, Michael Walker; his mother-in-law, Kathy Hubbell; his father-in-law, Steve Hubbell; his step-sister, Mikki Cahalane; his step-brother, Chris Carver; his half-brother, Ray Walker; his brother-in-law, Matt Hubbell; and many family and friends. He is also survived by his beloved cats, Black Bart, Smokey, and Pinky.
Royce had a passion for storm chasing, computer games, spending time with friends and family, golf, disc golf, visiting breweries, skiing, cooking and grilling, gardening, enjoying firepits, and fireworks. He served as a science camp counselor right out of high school and was on the board for Omaha Beer Week.
Royce was a free-spirited individual who loved life and brought smiles and laughter to those around him. He was known for his intelligence and love of learning new things. He enjoyed cooking and grilling for others and sharing drinks around the fire pit. Royce was a personal weatherman for many, posting on his Roycecast 5000, and assisted in predicting for storm chasers.
The family expresses their gratitude to all the family and friends who supported them during Royce's illness and now. A special thank you to Kros Strain for their support and love, as well as to the brewery community, which is truly an amazing family.
Visitation will be held at Westlawn Hillcrest Memorial Park & Funeral Home, located at 5701 Center St, Omaha, NE 68106, on January 16, 2026, from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm. The funeral service will take place at Westlawn-Hillcrest Memorial Park, at the same address, on January 17, 2026, at 10:30 am.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests honoring Royce’s memory with a donation to Town and Country Animal Rescue or by planting a tree in his name.
Royce, you have touched so many people and made their lives better by just being you. This is not goodbye but see you later. We love you and miss you.
