

Charley Robert Blackburn, 94, of Paris changed his earthly address to heaven on Friday, October 16, 2015 at Heritage House of Paris. A graveside service will be held, at 10:00 a.m. Monday, October 19, 2015 at Jamison Chapel Cemetery, Clarksville, Texas, with Rev. Mike King officiating. There will be no formal visitation. Bright Holland Funeral Home has charge of the arrangements. Born January 11, 1921, in Boswell, Ok, he was the son of Charley Robert Lee and Mandy Louise Blackburn. He and Ruby Pauline Weaver Hines were married May 11, 1944 in Clarksville, Texas. They enjoyed 62 years of marriage. Mr. Blackburn was a retired minister and spent much of his life working as a lay minister in several churches in Odessa, Texas. His passion in life was leading others to Christ. After retiring from Redeemer Lutheran Church in Odessa, he spent his free time visiting and ministering in hospitals and nursing homes until his health failed. Charley was also very proud of his military service and was a disabled veteran of World War II. Those left behind to mourn his loss and cherish his memory is a son, Danny Blackburn and wife, Carol of Moody, Texas; stepsons, Bob and Naomi Hines of Midlothian, Texas, and Doug and Pat Hines of Paris; ten grandchildren, eighteen great grandchildren, and seven great-great grandchildren. Preceding Mr. Blackburn in death are his parents, his beloved wife, three sisters, two brothers, one grandchild and one great grandchild. Special thanks to Dr. Stephen Burns, Dr. Richard Bercher, Heritage House nurses and caregivers, Cypress Home Healthcare, Paris Regional Medical Center nursing staff, Platinum Hospice Care and numerous others who were involved in the care of Mr. Blackburn during his extended illness.
