Ginger Rater

Virginia (Ginger) Rater passed away August 22, 2017. Bright-Holland Funeral Home has scheduled services for 10:00 am, Friday, August 25, 2017, at College Church of Christ, with Bro. David Ballard and Bro. Nolan Butler officiating. Burial will be made in Bluff Cemetery, in Red River County. The family will receive friends from 6-7 pm, Thursday, at the funeral home. Ginger was born October 11, 1935 in Red River County. She was a member of College Church of Christ and a dedicated worker of the “Toy Makers”. She always had a love for Country & Western music and a song on her heart. She was blessed with a talent for singing and playing the guitar and was known for her yodeling. She enjoyed playing for the residents of the local nursing homes with her dear friends. Mama is now at peace in her heavenly home, singing and making melody in her heart. Ginger was preceded in death by her parents, Randolph Miller and Vivian Miller Ellenburg and step-dad, Ted Ellenburg; brothers, Paul Anglin, Bill Miller and Jimmy Curtis Miller, all of Paris and Dicky Wayne Miller of Deport; a sister, Margie Miller; a niece, Rhonda Gail Miller and nephews, Billy Keith Miller and Sammy Lynn Miller. Survivors include her son, Randy Rater of Detroit; a daughter, Terry Cavender & husband Billy of Pattonville; grandsons, Cody Cavender of Sachse and Matt Cavender & wife Jenny of Paris; great-grandson, Abram Cavender of Paris; sisters, Shelia Icenhower & husband Kenny, Marilynn Barnes & husband Jerry all of Paris; brother, Sam Miller & wife Tonia of Wills Point, along with numerous nieces, nephews and a host of her musical buddies. In lieu of flowers, contributions to a charity of your choice will be appreciated.
