

Bright-Holland Funeral Home has scheduled graveside services for 10:00 a.m. Saturday, July 26th at Knights of Honor Cemetery with Abel O’Neal officiating.
Mr. Dennis, the son of Floyd Willis Dennis & Mary Ineta Wilkinson Dennis, was born Oct. 9, 1936, in Olton, TX.
He graduated from Olton High School. Jerry attended Murray State A&M at Tishomingo on a football scholarship.
During the Cuban Missile Crisis, he responded to the call of our country in 1961-1962, with United States Army.
He moved his family to Paris in 1967, and began working for CIT Adjustment Services. In 1973, Jerry began working for Harold Hodges Insurance and then completed his career with Gerald Gibson & Associates, following many years as an insurance adjuster.
Jerry was an avid hunter and fisherman. The delight of life was raising grandkids and great-grandkids.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Linda, whom he married on Feb. 24, 1957, building 46 years of family and memories before her death on May 11, 2003. He was also preceded in death by his parents, a grandson, Adam Dunagan, his step-father, Vernon Nixon, a brother, Darryl Curtis Dennis & his wife Nell, two brothers-in-law, Charley Shipley and Dean Miller, and a sister-in-law, Juanita Thomas.
Survivors include two children, Dan Dennis and Donna Dunagan & husband John, a granddaughter, Stephanie O’Neal & husband Michael, two great grandchildren, Abel O’Neal and Mackee O’Neal, siblings, Anne Nicholas & husband Buster, Ronnie Dennis & wife Bobbye, Maenette Shipley, and Sharron Hamby, and a sister-in-law, Cherie Miller along with numerous nieces & nephews and a host of friends including many friends he worked with over the years.
