

Joe Edward Spencer, 76, of Hopewell, passed away Friday, July 08, 2016, at his home. Bright-Holland Funeral Home has scheduled graveside services for 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 12th, at Restland Cemetery in Roxton with Rev. Jackie Spencer officiating. The family will receive friends from 6 – 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Joe, the son of Jeff Stark & Bonnie May Morley Spencer, was born Dec. 16, 1939, in the Georgia Community. He attended West Lamar School and then began his career as a carpenter & contractor. Joe owned and operated Spencer Construction where he built houses and poured concrete. He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Terry Joe Spencer, three brothers, George, Frank and Bobby Spencer and one sister, Margie Swint. Survivors include his wife of thirty-one years, Cindy LaRue Spencer, children, Tawana Sandlin & husband Benny of Powderly, Darron Spencer & wife Debbie of Reno and Jackie Spencer & wife Cayli of Paris, grandchildren, Benjamin Drake, Nicole Spencer, Ryan Spencer, Matthew Sandlin and Reese Spencer, his mother-in-law, Neoma LaRue of Paris, a sister-in-law, Donna LaRue of Paris, brothers, Nuke Spencer, Billy Spencer & wife Roxie, Ray Spencer & wife Shirley, Fred Spencer & wife Carolyn, Ralph Spencer & wife Barbara all of Paris, Ronnie Spencer & wife Inell of Ft. Towson, OK, and Lonnie Spencer & wife Margo of Rockwall, sisters, Daisy Birdsong, Faye Daniels, Katherine Siddle & husband Claude, Emma Dickerson & husband Donnie, and Carolyn Miller all of Paris, and Linda Gamble & husband Mike of Ben Wheeler, numerous nieces & nephews and a plethora of friends. The family would like to express their appreciation to Dr. Terry Kilgore, Dr. Richard Bercher and the staff and nurses of Platinum Hospice for the care given their loved one.
