

Maxine Ross Roussel, 91, of Arthur City, passed away Sunday, April 5, 2015 at Stillhouse Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center. Bright-Holland Funeral Home has scheduled graveside services for 3:00 pm, Thursday, April 9, 2015 in Der Stadt Friedhof Cemetery in Fredericksburg, TX. Mrs. Roussel was born February 12, 1924 in Moline, IL to Russell McClatchey and Marjorie Ida Wiltamuth McClatchey. Before marriage she attended Nurses Training. She married Albert A. Roussel, April 9, 1944 and he preceded her in death on July 21, 2008, in Kerrville, TX building over 64 years of family and memories. During her working years, Mrs. Roussel worked in the Comal County Tax and Licensing office, in New Braunfels for several years. She also worked for a period of time as an office manager for an Ophthalmologist in Austin and also for the Fredrick Air Conditioning Co. in San Antonio. At one time she was the director of the child care center in Fort Sam Houston, TX. Her love for music led her to be the choir director and piano player of her church for a period of time. She was a very loving mother and grandmother to her family. Her reputation as a great cook, seamstress and craftsperson, precede her. She was a dedicated care giver, a friend to all, a compassionate, loving and giving person, who cheerfully and freely loved giving to the VFW and the DAV. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one son, Kenneth John Roussel; one sister, Gail Ackerman and a brother-in-law, Joseph Roussel. Survivors include her daughters, Kathryn A. Torres & husband John of San Antonio, Karen L. Erben & husband Fred of Arthur City and Karna J. Hinton & husband Richard of Arthur City; grandchildren, Carol Ray, Sharon Whiting, Angela Edwards, Vernon Hodson, David Hodson, James Erben, Joy Erben, Stephen Forren, David Forren, Jeanna Martin and Michael Roussel; 15 great-grandchildren along with numerous nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
