

Melvin Leslie Webb passed from this life to his eternal home peacefully with both of his daughters by his side at The Home Place on December 10, 2016 in Paris, Texas at the age of 82. Mr. Webb is survived by all three of his children, Mark Leslie Webb, Susan Denise Weiberg and Shelley Webb Russell all of Blossom, Texas. He was the only child of Leslie Walter Webb and Lela Bozzell Cunningham Webb. Both of his parents preceded him in death. His wife, Rebecca “Becky” Sue Ray Webb of 61 years of marriage also preceded him in death on November 16, 2014. Melvin Webb was born on July 28, 1934 in the Byrdtown community near Blossom, Texas. He graduated from Blossom High School in 1951 and graduated from Business College in Dallas, Texas with a degree in accounting and business management. He married Becky, his high school sweetheart at the age of 19. They moved to Dallas and he began working for Schwerman Trucking Company while attending college and raising a family. After 16 years in Dallas the family returned to their hometown of Blossom, Texas to assist his parents in farming and ranching while working for LaRue Ford Tractor Company in Paris, Texas as the service manager. After a number of years, Mr. Webb transitioned to full-time farming and later drove a school bus for Prairiland CISD for 20 years until his retirement. During his retirement, Mr. Webb assisted his wife with the maintenance of Kiddie Korner Preschool in Paris, Texas. Melvin Webb loved his family and had a heart for children, farming, coaching / encouraging them in sports and pursuing their goals. He was an active and dedicated member of the Lamar Avenue Church of Christ and shared his love of the Lord by developing a valet parking program to assist the handicapped and elderly. He was also an active member of the Red River Valley Honkers, antique automobile club for many years. Melvin Webb is survived by all three of his children: Mark Leslie Webb, Susan Denise Weiberg and Shelley Webb Russell. Six grandchildren: Michael Leslie Webb and wife Misti McMikel Webb; Tiffany Anne Farris and husband Mark Farris; Christopher ‘Chris’ Lance McDowra and wife Rebecca McDowra; Pamela Sue Whitaker and husband Eric Whitaker; Nicholas McDowra; Clay Leslie Vaughn and wife, Gina Vaughn. Thirteen great-grandchildren: Colton Lee Webb; Keeley Layne Webb; Kreidyn Leslie Farris; Lakyn Marie Farris; Matthew McDowra; Joshua McDowra; Jayden Whitaker; Jake Whitaker; Jace Ray Whitaker; Nicholas McDowra Jr.; Bentley McDowra; Elexus ‘Lexi’ Vaughn and Don ‘Layne’ Vaughn. He was preceded in death by his wife, Rebecca Ray Webb and his great-granddaughter, Brelynd Landry Fendley and his parents, Leslie Walter Webb and Lela Cunningham Webb. A funeral is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Saturday December 17th at Bright-Holland Chapel, with a grave side memorial to follow at Knights of Honor Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6:00 to 7:00 pm at Bright-Holland Funeral Home. Patrick Cannon, minister of Lamar Avenue Church of Christ along with David Ballard, minister of Pattonville Church of Christ will officiate the ceremony. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Melvin Webb’s life. The family would like to thank the caregivers at The Home Place, Platinum Hospice and Bright and Holland for their loving care and devotion.
