

Roger Allen Caruthers, 64, of Grand Prairie, formerly of Paris, passed away Wednesday, May 31, 2017, at Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas. Memorial services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Saturday, June 3rd, at Bright-Holland Funeral Home with Dr. Tim Reger officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service. Roger, the son of Elwyn E. & Margaret Clark Caruthers, was born Dec. 2, 1952, in Russell, Kansas. He graduated from Paris High School and Paris Junior College. On Nov. 16, 1979, he married Kathy Garner, building thirty-seven years of family and memories. Roger’s career with National Hardware spanned more than thirty years followed by several years with McCoy’s Building Supply. In 2013, they moved to Grand Prairie, and he began working for Southwest Moulding in Dallas. His last day to work was May 31, 2017. His work colleagues were a very special part of his life. He was a great inspiration to his family and friends in that he never allowed any of his challenges in life to stand in his way. What a privilege it was to know him. He was an amazing man who will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Survivors include his wife, Kathy, one son, Clayton Caruthers & wife, Lauren, of Katy, two grandchildren, Michaela and Caleb, a brother, Donnie Caruthers & wife, Melody, and their sons, Hunter Caruthers and Jonathan Gargus, of Killeen, an aunt & uncle, Rita & Rex Schultze of Osborne, KS, his mother-in-law, Betty Z. Garner of Booneville, AR, sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law; Ben Cooper & wife, Brenda, of Barling, AR, Jim Garner & wife, Jamey, of Booneville, AR and Linda Carr & husband, Terry, of Oklahoma City, OK along with several nieces & nephews and a host of friends.
