William John “Bill” Barters, 67, of Paris, passed away Monday, Oct. 28, 2024, at Christus-Mother Frances Hospital in Tyler. Memorial services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Saturday, December 14th at Bright-Holland Funeral Home with Bradley Scott officiating. Bill, the son of Richard Henry Barters & Theresa Matula Barters, was born Dec. 9, 1956, in New York, NY. He was a Certified Peer Specialist with MHMR and a WRAP Facilitator for the State of Texas. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles where he was Junior Past Worthy President and a Trustee. Bill was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Michael H. Barters. Survivors include his wife, Melissa Newman Barters, whom he married on May 8, 2010, three children, Brooke Carlton (Trevor), Richard “Rich” Barters (Allie), and John Barters (Natalie), a God-daughter, Samatha Nichols, five grandchildren, two sisters, Elizabeth Petoe (Denes) and Lee D’Ambrosio (Jim), and a best friend whom he thought of as a brother, Jason Thoms along with several nieces & nephews and a host of friends.
