

John Albert Martinez Sr, 63, passed away October 22, 2011. He was born June 12, 1948 in Parker, Arizona. Albert's legacy is his love of family and country, and a strong work ethic. Albert joined the U.S. Army and served in Vietnam. During his service he received numerous awards including: The Bronze Star, Purple Heart, Army Commendation Medal, Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Medal, 2 Vietnam Service Medals and the Republic of vietnam Campaign Medal. After his serving our country Albert returned home to Parker, Arizona were he began farming with his father on their family farm. Later starting his own farm with his sister Sandy called J&S farms. After farming Albert started employment with Bureau of Indian Affairs, as a BIA systems operator where he retired after 19 years of service. During this time Albert started a family with his wife Elvira. They were blessed with three children Esmeralda, Edna and John Jr. Albert loved his family very much. As life went on he was blessed even more with 9 grandchildren. Which he gladly accepted the challenge of being a grandfather, devoting much of his time to his grandchildren. Albert was an active man enjoying traveling and spend time with family and friends. He was an excellent cook, avid hunter and active member of the local VFW. Albert was friendly and outgoing person always willing to help others without hesitation. He will be greatly missed be all who knew and loved him. He is survived by his father, Salvador Martinez, mother, Erlinda Leivas, daughter, Edna Martinez, son, John Martinez Jr., and 9 grandchildren.
