Betty Jo Pennington

Betty Pennington, age 87, of Parkersburg, WV passed away peacefully on April 12, 2015 at the Ohio Valley Health Care Center in Parkersburg. She was born in Charleston, WV on June 19, 1927 the daughter of the late Amy and Ralph Meadows. Betty was a lifelong and faithful member of Emmanuel Baptist Church in Parkersburg. She was a hairdresser for many years in the Parkersburg/Vienna area. She enjoyed tending to her flower gardens and was an avid WVU football fan. God granted Betty the ability to live independently in her home until a few months ago. Her only granddaughter and three great grandchildren were the love and joy of her life. She was predeceased by her parents; husband of 65 years, Charles L. Pennington; daughter Jo Lynne; and a brother William (Bill) Meadows. She is survived by her son Larry (Joyce) of Boaz; granddaughter Leah (Mike) Pender of Zebulon, NC; her three great grandchildren Ryan, Hannah and Samantha; a brother Robert (June) Meadows of Tacoma, WA; and Karen Johnson of Vienna with whom they shared a mother/daughter bond. A special thank you to the nursing staff at Ohio Valley Health Care; her best friend Maridor Keck; and Pastor Kurt Busiek who provided much comfort during her time of passing. Funeral arrangements are being handled by Sunset Memory Gardens in Parkersburg. A memorial service for Betty will be held at the convenience of the family.
