Donald was born August 6, 1932 in Parkersburg to James Daniel and Dorothy Marie {Hilton} Gilchrist.
Donald was a United States Navy Veteran. He worked at G. E. Chemical and retired in 1991 after 29 years. He was a 1952 Graduate of PHS, Baptist by faith and liked to golf, play softball and WVU sports.
Donald will be deeply missed by his wife of 64 years, Edith, daughter, Karen (Todd) Dever of Belpre, OH, sons, Steven (Tara) of Mt. Morris, PA, Jeffery (Michelle) and Rick (Regina) both of Morgantown, WV, grandchildren, Jessica (Andy) Coulson of Buffalo, WV, Joshua Gilchrist of Pittsburgh, PA, Levi, Bailey and Lindsey Gilchrist of Morgantown, WV, brother, Keith “Ed” Egar of California, sister Janice (Larry) Graham of Indiana.
Donald was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Phyllis Hart, brothers Bruce and Wayne Gilchrist.
Visitation will be Thursday, November 2, 2017 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home, Parkersburg. Funeral services will be Friday, November 3, 2017 at 1 p.m. with visitation 1 hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Interment will be at Sunset Memory Gardens.
