

Marilyn Josephine Bowman Heilman, 80, of Jacksonville, Florida departed this earth and went home to the Lord September 29, 2015, in Marietta, Ohio. She was born in Bellefontaine, Ohio to Hugh Bowman and Josephine Oates Bowman on July 10, 1935.
Marilyn graduated in 1953 from Hardin Northern High School, Dola, Ohio in its first graduating class. During her formative years she was a chapter member of the Merry Elves 4-H Club, Kenton, Ohio; a charter member of the Order of Rainbow for Girls, Ada, Ohio; and a member of the Walnut Grove United Methodist Church, Kenton, Ohio for over 40 years.
In 1956, Marilyn graduated with a registered nursing degree from White Cross Hospital School of Nursing, Columbus, Ohio. While married to James Heilman for 22 years, she was a nurse for the Hardin County Head Start Program, Kenton City Schools and Hardin County Home Health Agency. Later on she also worked for the Logan County Home Health Agency. She was a proud, strong and devoted mother of two daughters and a loving, caring and patient friend and caregiver.
Marilyn was a 4-H Advisor for High Flyers 4-H Club, Kenton, Ohio; served on the Ohio Cooperative Extension Service Advisory Committee for Hardin County; and was a member of Jaycees’ Wives and Hardin County Choral Society. Her other hobbies included piano, sewing and entertaining.
In 1983, Marilyn moved to Florida working for the Daytona Home Health Agency and retiring from the Florida Department of Health - Duval County (Jacksonville) Health Department on September 30, 2003 at age 67.
Marilyn enjoyed yard work and puzzles; playing Bunco card game; keeping up with political issues; attending services at Lake Shore United Methodist Church and its Joy Class Sunday School and Young at Heart Group; serving as treasurer of the Lake Shore United Methodist Women; participating in activities of the Mandarin Garden Club’s Live Oak Group of Florida; helping with civic initiatives of the Jacksonville Chapter of Freedoms Foundation; and collecting vintage jewelry and teddy bears.
Marilyn is survived by her loving daughters, LaDonna (John) Woellert of Columbus, Ohio and Teresa Stone of Marietta, Ohio; Dave Powell (friend of Teresa) of Marietta, Ohio; sister Yvonne Bowman Cade of Port St Lucie, Florida; and nephew Corran (Jo Ann) Cade of Okemos, Michigan.
She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Jeannine Bowman Sponsler, brother-in-law Richard Sponsler, and brother-in-law Robert Cade.
Marilyn chose to be cremated with her ashes buried in Grove Cemetery of Kenton, Ohio beside her mother, Josephine Bowman. The family will hold a celebration of her life at a later time.
