Born in Hanna, Alberta, Ben moved to British Columbia with his family, where he found his lifelong calling on the water. From a young age, he worked in both commercial and food fisheries, dedicating his life to the ocean. Be it threading nets, on the boat, or smoking and pickling fish, the ocean was as much a part of him as his family and friends.
In addition to his work as a fisherman, Ben spent a decade as part-owner of the Frontiersman Pub from 1982 to 1992, where he built lasting friendships and contributed to the local community.
Ben was predeceased by his parents, Robert and Pauline and his wife, Frances. He is survived by his brother, Sam, his son Robert, his three grandchildren (Casey, Ryan, and Maggie), and many grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of life will be held at Coombs Fairgrounds & Event Centre Sunday, November 9 from 11am till 3pm
