Cecil was born in Tisdale, Saskatchewan, to William and Kathleen Cullen, to be the second of 8 siblings: David and Louis (deceased), Irwin, Alan, Kathleen, Burnidette, and Lee. He spent his early years freely roaming the farmlands of northeast Saskatchewan.
When Cecil was 16, he left school to work. Along with his family and stepfather, he made his way across northern Canada from oil rigs to sawmills, all down through BC to Vancouver Island. It would take volumes to list all the jobs he had in his lifetime. He was licensed to drive any vehicle without wings. It was his motto to “do what he did do well.”
In 1975, Cecil met and married the love of his life, Joan. Fatherhood was the job he took most seriously, and he dedicated the rest of his life to raising his 5 daughters: Jodie (Troy Bater), Jackie, Sarah (Stuart Gilmour), Samantha (Greg Horonowitsch), and Adeline (Nick Suits).
He enjoyed every minute spent with his grandchildren, Bradley, Nicole, Dawson, Audrey, Olivia, and Jack. He was so proud of his family, and also of the Tiger Lily Farm which they shared with the world.
On Saturday, September 19th, there will be a service with family members at St. Anne’s Church, followed by internment at the Errington Cemetery. At 5:00 p.m., everyone is welcome to join the family in the arena at Tiger Lily Farm in Errington for a Celebration of the Life of a legend.
