It is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the passing of Dennis William Morgan of Qualicum Beach, B.C. on December 11, 2024 at the age of 85. He is survived by his loving wife and partner of 25 years Leslie, daughters Debbie, Kelly Kate and Nikki. To his many grandchildren he will always be remembered as their funny Grandpa D. It is with eternal gratitude that we thank the staff of Qualicum Manor for their kindness and compassion over the past two years. There will be a private celebration of life at a later date.
A Poem for Grandpa D
When Dennis met Leslie, his heart took flight,
Whitewater rafting, it was love at first sight.
Through each wave that crashed and roared,
They had no idea the memories in store.
It wasn’t long after he got down on one knee,
Soon they were married and off to BC.
Grandpa loved Spider Lake’s gentle shore,
the mountains, the rocks, even the sand he adored
He roamed the backyard without a care, watering the garden in nothing but his underwear.
He was a clean freak at heart, vacuuming with a smile, God forbid you walked barefoot on the tile.
Even from afar, he was a great stepdad To Kelly and Kate, oh what a bond they had.
The sunroom would light up with a happy-hour glow, together on the couch the dogs Leslie and her bald headed beaux.
And although everything in his life had been altered, his relationship with Guinness never faltered.
You wouldn’t catch him in the gym or on a bike, he’d always say:
“I never met a calorie I didn’t like”
Expensive tequila he’d sip with pride, he loved spending afternoons at spider lake tipsy by the beachside.
And at the Crow and Gate, he’d toast to life
An old Scottish soul with a cranky English wife.
In Spider Lake’s memories and Qualicum air, Grandpa’s spirit forever lingers there.
At 1170 his love still does shine, the big house will never go without any wine.
So let’s all raise a glass to Dennis, the Scotsman we all adore,
Whose heart and humor will live in us forevermore.
