December 01, 1952 – October 24, 2022
We are saddened to announce the passing of Donald Hartwig on October 24th, 2022. Left to mourn are his loving wife Jan; stepdaughters Leah and Alana; his son Lee; brother Rich; his 10 step grandchildren; relatives Marilyn and Gordon, Mike and Shirley H., Dave and Candace B; friend and mentor Bob T. and friends Gord C., Ron S. and Gerry K; and his beloved cat Calvin.
Don loved to golf and was an active member of the Nanaimo Golf Club. He enjoyed his time spent working for school district 68. His colleagues became friends, and they would meet once a month for lunch, and now they still meet for lunch in Don’s honour.
Don had many wonderful friends who he cared for deeply, and he loved being Papa Don to all his grandchildren. He was a caring man, who left this world far to soon and Don will be greatly missed.
There will be no service as per his request.
My mind still talks to you,
My heart still looks for you,
But my soul knows you’re at peace.
