Ted leaves behind his wife of 57 years, Sharien; daughter, Marnie (daughter, Blake) and son, Gordon (wife, Sarah and daughter, Pallas), siblings, extended family and many friends
Ted was a very special man who enjoyed all aspects of his life. Born and raised in Port Alberni, he was the second oldest of seven children. Ted’s career in the pulp and paper industry spanned from 1964-2000. He started in the mail room at MacMillan Bloedel, earned his Certified Management Accountant designation while working full time and eventually served as the Port Alberni Pulp and Paper Mill Manager. From there he transitioned to Weyerhaeuser for several years prior to retirement.
In addition to his extended family, Ted had many valued friends, and he took every opportunity to express his gratitude and affection for those close to him. A master of the two-step, Ted was always the first on the dance floor. Although a relatively quiet man, he was an accomplished public speaker. He enjoyed golf and was a dedicated member of the Alberni Golf Course for over three decades. He was also enthusiastic about water and snow skiing, teaching his three kids at an early age. A Gyro member of 40 years, community and volunteering were also very important to him. After retirement he travelled extensively with Sharien at his side.
The sparkle in his eye and his obnoxious little giggle will be missed by all.
