She was born in Toronto, ON, on November 6, 1935, to parents Ralph and Agnes (nee Walker) Richmond. Following her love of the ocean, she moved to Salt Spring Island, BC, and then later to Parksville, BC, in the early 90s. In the last few years of her life, it became challenging to walk or swim, which she loved dearly. During Eleanor’s life, she worked for the Red Cross and the Toronto Stock Exchange as a Secretary. Here, she became known for her incredible typing skills, being able to type 120 words per minute. Eleanor was a social butterfly; she loved storytelling and making new friends. She would not shy away from the down and out, she was always happy to be a friend. She will be fondly remembered for her love of the ocean, life, bingo, and the power of meditation and wellness. She firmly believed in the metaphysical and helped many with her knowledge of meditation and spirituality. Eleanor is survived by her four children, Deborah Hufsteadler, Craig (Pam) Hovell, Terry (Jean) Hovell, and Jeff (Nancy) Hovell; Eight grandchildren, Dawn, Devonah (Chris), Elizabeth (Pat), Stephen, Leslie, Stephanie, Teri (Kevin), James (Erin), and Jason; nine great-grandchildren and one on the way.
