An angel has just entered heaven in the Lord’s loving embrace. It’s with great sadness to announce the passing of Elizabeth Van Grondelle who left us suddenly after a courageous battle with cancer. Known as Lies (Lise) to all her friends, she is survived and greatly missed by her loving husband of 71 years, Hendrik, and by sons Alex and Robert, and grandson Evan. Lies was beloved by her friends and neighbours for her sense of humour and caring about others. Retiring in Qualicum from Calgary in 1987, she loved the oceanside community, playing bridge, working in her garden, and going on outings with her friends and family. In her later life, despite her difficulty walking, she could be seen using her walker or cane on daily outings in Qualicum to get coffee and a muffin and meeting with friends.
Her selfless love is her enduring legacy.
