On Friday April 3rd, the family lost its matriarch of an entire generation. Evelyn Lillie Myers (neé Usher) passed away in Qualicum Beach at the age of 98. She is survived by her son, Gregory, wife Anna Levy, two nieces, Gail and Lynne, three nephews Kenneth, Edwin (Ted) and Scott, and stepson Daniel, wife Susan. She was predeceased by her husband Tom who passed away in 2015. Born in New Westminster in 1927, Evelyn grew up during the Great Depression and WWII, a first-hand witness to the history unfolding at the time; both father and brother fought overseas in the Second World War.
Evelyn became an active member of the Orthodox Church in 1975. When she and Tom retired to Qualicum Beach in 1993 they were active in the Orthodox communities on the Island.
Evelyn was an accomplished poet, writer and author, a passionate and knowledgeable music lover, and a friend to many; she never stopped learning. She was lucid up to her last days, her memory and recall still sharp.
May Your Memory be Eternal!
