

He was born in Atholville, New Brunswick, on March 25, 1931, the youngest of 7 children. He was a direct descendant of the Acadians who came to Canada (New France) back in the 1600’s.
Dad’s career was in the military, serving in the Royal Canadian Airforce, where we grew up adventuring from the east to west coast of Canada, with a short posting in Lahr, Germany.
He was proud to follow in his father’s footsteps, who fought in the Battle of Vimy Ridge in WWI in the 22nd regiment (the Van Doos).
Qualicum Beach became Joan and Rogers eventual place of retirement, where they created a beautiful home they loved and made many wonderful friends including their “Church Family” at St. Mark’s Anglican Church.
He was predeceased by his parents, Wilfred and Daunia Dumas, and his 6 brothers and sisters.
Roger is survived by his wife Joan, of 55 years, his daughter Michelle (Chris Detwiler), his son Paul (Monique), grandchildren Mathew, Lucas (Tessie), Jason (Sheila), Tyler (Lyndsey) and Kristy (Travis Ball) and many relatives in Eastern Canada.
There will be a Celebration of Life at St. Mark’s Anglican Church on Monday June 26th at 2 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Roger’s name to St Mark’s Anglican Church, 138 Hoylake Road W, Qualicum Beach BC, V9K 1K3.
