Larry was predeceased by his parents, Edgar and Jean Williams; and his first wife of 33 years, Gail.
He leaves behind his wife, Dawne; his daughters Cory Campbell (Jeff) and Kristy Dean (Steve); four grandchildren, Makena, Jordan, Trevor and Nick; his extended family in Kamloops and Blind Bay B.C. as well as New Zealand, many dear friends and neighbours, former colleagues and boating friends.
Larry and Gail's close family of four lived in Port Coquitlam for nearly thirty years while Larry built a long and respected career in the trucking industry operating his own truck and working for Trimac Transportation. He loved his time on the road.
Larry was devastated by the sudden and premature loss of Gail, but with the passage of time, Larry and Dawne built a life together which evolved from their mutual love of dogs. He later relocated to Ocean Park where he and Dawne resided and together they devoted much of their free time to sailing. Many days were spent exploring the San Juan Islands with a large group of boating friends. Most weekends they were busy competing in sailing races, attending International Yacht Club events and enjoying weekend getaways, allowing much time for Larry's love of being out on the water.
Larry was kind, considerate and loved socializing with new acquaintances as well as old friends and he always had time to listen to others. He was a happy and positive man and added an element of fun and laughter to conversations. He loved to regale his stories of adventures on the water, particularly his extended sail in the Caribbean with his long time friend, Harold.
Eventually Both Larry and Dawne's retirement motivated their last move to Qualicum Beach on Vancouver Island where they enjoyed many of the advantages of living in a small, quiet town. Once settled in Qualicum Beach, Larry's love of dogs guided his final years. He quickly became involved and played a role in the rescue of Golden Retrievers through the Golden Bond Dog Rescue. There were many trips to the Vancouver airport to greet rescued dogs arriving in crates from overseas and Larry found this very fulfilling and meaningful. In addition to this, many of these rescued dogs found their final home with Larry and Dawne and lived their final chapter with them in Qualicum Beach. His current dogs, Jackson and China, were cherished by Larry and one of his final requests was to have one last visit with them in the hospital the day before he passed. This visit provided him much comfort and peace.
Larry's big, warm smile will be greatly missed and we will always hold him in our hearts.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
