

Michael was predeceased by his first wife Liliane, his son Lionel, and granddaughter Stephanie. He will be dearly missed by his wife Carol; his son Jean-Marie (Agnes); daughter Martine; eight grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; step-daughter Christie (Doug) and many extended family and friends whose lives he touched.
Born in Douai, France, Michael built a remarkable career as an architectural technologist, dedicating over 30 years in Bordeaux to the renovation of very old hospitals. In 1980, he moved to Calgary, where he continued his craft as a freelance designer. Upon retiring to Qualicum Beach in 2000, Michael remained active in the community, serving on the Town Planning Committee, and helping to create several early childhood Munchkinland sites.
Michael had a gift for problem-solving and delighted in assisting friends find design solutions. He also found joy in gourmet cooking, wine tasting, travelling, gardening, and music. In his later years he wrote a series of stories about his teen years in the north of France during World War II.
Always a gentleman, Michael was known for his kindness and humour. The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate caregivers at Avenir Memory Care and Qualicum Manor. A celebration of life will be held at 2 PM on October 3 at St. Stephen’s United Church in Qualicum Beach.
