My sincere condolences to Cathy and the numerous family members that are grieving the loss of such a great man. He will be missed immensely by so many. On a personal note, I have a few things to say to my Uncle Mirko. (And as per his wishes I will call him Mirko)

Mirko, there has come a time… today, where it’s my turn to give you a “toast”. Back in 1995 as I’m sure you recall, you were my MC and you gave the best speech ever! You had the whole place laughing when you presented the “toast to the bride!” You were always the funny one. 
Today, as I write this, I’m going to “toast” you back, as I feel it’s how you would like it. 

Mirko, a “toast” to you! For being the tallest, quirkiest, loving uncle that I have been so grateful to have shared so many memories with. You literally are larger than life! I will miss you and your visits, and miss your powerful voice, especially when you say that you are NOTHING like my Mom (Grace) 😀 I hope you are having a glass of vino with everyone, and that you are forever “toasting”. I love you, and I raise my glass to you! Rest in peace Mirko - ❤️

The Best Brother and you would say I'am the only brother.  When we wen to Italy the last time you & I would go to the Cantina & have 3 glasses of wine, every day for a week.

Grant and I are deeply saddened to hear of Mirko’s passing.  We shared so many wonderful memories over the years in Manzanillo- especially at La Bogita Beach. 
Grant had the honour of being one of Mirko’s “pieces of shit”.  And he wouldn’t have wanted it any other way.
Our children still talk about the times Mirko dove into the ocean to bring back starfish for them.
Mirko was very patient when he helped Grant and I learn to play the card game of Wizard and didn’t get upset with us when we threw down the wrong card.
Cathy, no words can express the pain you must be feeling.  Everyone loved Mirko and everyone loves you too. We are all here for you .  May God wrap his arms around you and comfort you and may Mirko rest in peace.

Being part of the Colussi family in Prince Rupert was to stand literally and figuratively in Mirko’s shadow. He must have been one of the tallest people in the city in stature, athletics and kindness to others. He taught me some things I am not sure I wanted to know, like how to skin a rabbit, but he helped me learn a lot that carried me through some stages of my life. Some of you might remember I was a sickly child who was much easier to leave on the sidelines. Not Mirko … he included me, he was always willing to spend time with the “little blue kid”.  He made the effort in teaching me how to play baseball and basketball; knowing I would never be an athlete. Mirko showed me how winning and loosing with equal dignity and grace was more important than your skill level in any sport. Athletic ability eventually fades but treating people with respect and compassion never does. His sense of humour showed me how I could get out of lots of dicey situations and make others happy by being funny. I am not sure how to say thank you except I try to extend the kindness he showed me to others.  Thank you Mirko!

Our most sincere condolences on the passing of Mirko.  Joe and I met  you both in Manzanillo Mexico.  We connected with you from day one and looked forward to seeing you every year since the early 2000’s.  Learning that Mirko was Italian and born in the town of Casarsa brought back memories for myself and Joe.  My father was from a town closeby which we visited years ago.  I would joke with Mirko, telling him that he was the darkest Italian I had ever met!  
This past winter we got to talk about Italy and all the trips that he and Cathy had taken.  Both Joe and I will miss seeing him, hearing him and of course talking with him.   Rest in peace our Italian friend.
We will keep memories of you in our hearts.

Our condolences to Cathy and the family.  Mirko had such a huge presence in all the lives he touched. He will be missed.

Mitko was a treasure friend in Manzanillo. I'm proudly "a piece of shit". My grandson, Liam, when he was very young, called him "amigo", confabulating the words Mirko and Amigo. Quite appropriate, really. Always a very stong presence, friends gathered at his table at the beach or a local restaurant. Our heartfelt condolences to Cathy and his family. Unimaginable loss...

A smile for everyone he met and a dear friend to  many. We knew Vacation Mirko from the many winters he and Cathy spent in Mexico at the condo.I will always remember his big splash dives, and him stretched out for hours basking in the sun ( no one could compete with the Mirko tan).

As a member of the Petersen Clan, and in the midst of tears, I am sending condolences to  Cathy on the loss of the pillar of her family.   Mirko was a special friend, and he and Peter were like brothers from different mothers.  Many competitive encounters took place on the greens of Morningstar over the years, and they both gathered often with friends to compare stories of their youth in Prince Rupert ... the stories just kept growing.  Since moving to Qualicum Beach, Mirko, along with Dennis Eby, Doug Dyer and Paul Richardson, helped fill the void when Peter was called Home.  To be accepted in the club, and even be addressed as 'A Piece of Shit' by Mirko made me smile.  I always enjoyed our visits over a glass of wine, chicken-wing dinners out and about, and popping homegrown, delicious, cherry tomatoes while sitting on the Colussi's back patio.  We received a treasured gift from Mirko when he built and had installed a bridge at Morningstar honouring Peter's call Home.  How Mirko managed this incredible task so beautifully, while on borrowed time yet, captured the essence of the strong bond they had forged for each other.   You will be missed Mirko, and know you'll never be forgotten.  Sending much love your way, dear friend!
