Peter Schulz, aged 81, will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Jacquelyn of 50 years and his children, Yvonne and her husband Scott, Melissa and her husband Vincent, Keven and his wife Kristie. He was a proud grandfather to Clayton, Anders, Esme, Annika, Owen, Grace-Lynn and Emmett, each of whom held a special place in his heart.
Peter, son of Peter Schulz and Irene Unger, is survived by his sister Anne and brother Henry. He was predeceased by his beloved sister Helen, who remains in the family's cherished memories.
Peter had a love of travel and adventure, enjoying the opportunity to explore the world and experience new places. Among his memorable adventures were visiting the Serengeti and Egypt, cruising through the Panama Canal, exploring China, Peru, Australia and New Zealand, and discovering Europe.
After living in Calgary, Peter moved to Vancouver Island 35 years ago, where he embraced the pleasures of rural life and the island’s natural beauty. He appreciated spending time at home, watching the boats pass by, observing planes overhead, following the changing weather and keeping an eye out for the local wildlife. These everyday sights brought him interest and joy. Peter had a practical hands on side and took pride in renovating his home and tinkering with farm machinery, particularly John Deere equipment.
Beyond his own interests and adventures, Peter gave generously of his time and skills to help others, such as volunteering his accounting services to assist those less fortunate. He believed in looking out for others, and his everyday efforts to contribute to those around him left a warm and lasting impression on the community.
Peter leaves behind a lifetime of memories, adventures and love. He will be deeply missed by Jacquelyn, his children and extended family and friends. The memories they shared and the love he gave will remain with them always.
There will be no funeral service at this time. A celebration of Peter’s life is planned for mid-summer 2027, when family and friends will have an opportunity to gather and honour his memory.
