Richard, Roger and all family members.  Please know that I am thinking of you and praying for you in the loss of your father.  I recall meeting him in our church in Ottawa; what a distinguished gentleman he was.  May you remember all the happy times and know that others are thinking of you. I was one of the fortunate ones who came to know this extraordinary man and call him friend. We shared many stories together about our families, teaching experiences, travels, and aspirations. Richard taught me a great deal about his writing process, for which I will be eternally grateful. He was filled with gratitude for having survived the War, for his family, for a life well lived. His ability to see the 'silver lining' was inspiring, and his warmth and sense of humour always made me smile. I will dearly miss our conversations together. My heart goes out to all his family. I am hopeful that, in knowing how far reaching a positive effect their cherished one has had, they can find some comfort.
