Rick was a simple and solitary man who found joy in life’s small pleasures. From a young age, he loved cars — especially antique and classic ones — and that passion stayed with him throughout his life. As one saying goes, “A car is not just a means of transport, but a companion for the journey.” Rick certainly appreciated the quiet companionship of his cars.
He spent many years working as a pool technician and took pride in that work, even though it wasn’t the car work he dreamed of. Rick enjoyed many years in Langley, where he built lasting friendships with members of his car club.
He was happiest with a cheese-whiz sandwich in hand or at Sunday dinners with his mom. He also enjoyed evening outings to Tim Hortons to hang out with the car gang, as well as time spent on movie sets with his classic cars. Rick liked to put in his two cents worth, always accompanied by giggles and jokes.
One or two times a year, Rick would visit his sister and her family on Vancouver Island. He will be missed by his niece, Jenny, and his nephews, Stephen and Michael, as well as his sister, Linda, his brother-in-law, Doug, and all of their spouses, children, and extended family.
