1931 - 2016
Robert (Bud) Rae passed away peacefully December 14, 2016 at WCGH with loving family at his side, after a lengthy illness.
Predeceased by his parents Alexander and Jeannie Rae, siblings John Rae, Alex Rae & Edith Devito, he is survived by his wife Bernadette, daughters Tori & Elsie, son Allen, stepdaughters Susan, Shara & Ingrid, grandchildren Jimii, Marty, Michael, Tiffany, Crystal, Trina, Johnathan, Shelley, Rachael, Alexander, Edward & Katie; and his sisters Beatrice Best & Jeannie Patterson.
Robert was an avid outdoors man and pilot, some of the things he moved loved to do was to fish, hunt, hike and fly. He said that there was nothing better than to lie in your boat with the waves gently rocking you to sleep. He loved the tranquil hikes to various places - his nine hikes to Mount Haleakala on Hawaii, he also spent hiking everyday one August climbing another of his favorites, Mount Klitsa; another summer hiking the Chilkoot Trail in Alaska with his young son and later the 3 Sisters in Manning Park. Robert spent his entire life combing the Valley, discovering many beautiful forests, ridges and lakes. He was sure he was the first to discover some of the small lakes and would take a small plaque with "RAE LAKE" on it and stake the lake. Robert loved life right down to the seemingly insignificant smallest thing, taking in the joy where others overlooked.
He enjoyed it all, even watching a lemon on his own tree ripen. He will be sadly missed by family and friends, but we will cherish his memories.
Services will be held at JW Kingdom Hall on Maebelle Road on Saturday, December 31 at 1:00 PM with refreshments to be served afterwards.
The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude for the compassion and care shown by all of the staff at WCGH during Robert's lengthy and arduous illness.
