

Very sadly, Roger passed away on November 4, 2025 in the Palliative Care Unit of Nanaimo Hospital. He is survived by his brother, Nigel (Dannette), his partner, Diana, and his two daughters, Tracey (Tom) and Rachel (Mark) and grandchildren, Jasmine, Alex, Scott, Jacob, Jade and Ryan. He was predeceased by his wife, Donna Parker, on September 24, 1980 and his elder brother, Michael, on November 14, 1990.
Roger was born in Solihull, England in 1937. In December, 1947 he came to Canada with his parents and two brothers. They crossed the Atlantic in the ship, the Aquitania, and travelled by train from Halifax to Vancouver where they arrived on Christmas Day and stayed at the Georgia Hotel.
Roger attended Kitsilano High School in Vancouver. ln1954 he enlisted in the Canadian Army as as a soldier apprentice with the Royal Canadian Electrical and Mechanical Engineers Corps. He spent two years in Kingston at which time he completed his basic training and went on to complete his trades training. He was posted to Wainwright and then to Calgary where he was attached to the Lord Strathcona Horse Regiment. He then transferred to the Royal Canadian Engineers in Chilliwack. He served for 5 years and made lifelong friends.
Roger spent two years in Los Angeles working for the American Title company. Following his return to Canada he married and raised his two daughters. Roger was an exceptionally hard worker and always made time for his family and friends. He worked for Canada Safeway for 25 years until retirement.
Roger was an avid sports person, in his earlier years swimming and completed the Mile Swim in Aldergrove in 1976. He used to enjoy running around Stanley Park. He was a marksman learning that in army cadets where his team won the Lieutenant Governor award trophy. He enjoyed skiing, played golf regularly and got a "hole in one" in 2001 and won the Senior Mens Doubles tennis annual tournament in 2014 at the Arrowsmith Tennis Club. He loved to travel and spent many wonderful holidays in his favourite place, Hawaii.
