
Shangara Singh Dial, 70 years of age, passed away surrounded by his family on Thursday, August 11, 2016 at Nanaimo General Hospital. Shangara was born on July 10, 1946 in Punjab, India to the late Ganga Singh and Gian Kaur. He had 2 sisters and was the youngest brother of 3, one who preceded him in death.
Shangara was married to Sukhwinder Kaur Dial for 41 years. He moved to British Columbia in 1970 and started calling Nanaimo his home in 1975 where his 3 children were born and raised. He was a dedicated mill worker for over 30 years, which he retired from.
One of his passions was weightlifting and the trophies he earned while competing are some of his prized possessions. He also had a love for soccer, and enjoyed playing the sport with his friends and children. His faith was very important to him and he took great pride in being an active member of the Gurdwara Sikh temple on Fifth Street. He enjoyed helping others and was always the first to lend a helping hand.
The legacy of his life will be lived on by his wife, his son, Sonny, his son, Sobby and partner, Kimberly, his daughter, Mindy, and his grandson, Carter. He was a very compassionate, loving man and will be greatly missed by everyone who knew him.
